We generally inform parents and participants on a direct basis. The next event is the Summer Camp participant meetup and creation of the promotional movie.
We are generally based in the heart of Switzerland, Bern, but our events take place all over Switzerland.
Our staff is not working full-time. The entire staff is doing this on a unsalaried basis. If you’re interested in joining us, let us know!
Welcome to the website of the Young Diplomats Switzerland. We are a club that organizes events for children and young people interested in politics and diplomacy.
The very young diplomats are introduced to the topics in a playful way. Step by step, they learn what diplomacy is and focus mainly on large organisations. In addition, they will also deal with the cultures of well-known countries.
The young diplomats deal not only with the basics of other cultures but also with the more unknown countries. They will not only acquire valuable knowledge about diplomacy, but also important skills for carrying out diplomatic activities. This includes, for example, presentations, interviews and conversations.
The parents are generally only present on special occasions. The goal is to let the young diplomats work as independently as possible. Of course, photos are taken at the events and at international events we regularly inform about the current activities.
The children are looked after individually depending on the event. For smaller events there is usually one organizer. At international events the young diplomats are accompanied by two to three supervisors. Usually the delegation is guided through the day on site by separate personnel.
The history of the club goes back to the OSCE Children’s Congress held in Ukraine in 2013. A small Swiss delegation of six young people represented Switzerland for three weeks. There they exchanged ideas with 1500+ other young participants from over 100+ nations. Inspired by those political and diplomatic events, this club was founded.
In recent years, we have organised a number of smaller events for interested individuals in Switzerland. In addition, every year approximately 12 young diplomats are selected for the Swiss delegation, with the privilege of representing Switzerland internationally. There they have the unique opportunity to get to know other nations, cultures and traditions and to talk to like-minded young representatives.
An important part of diplomacy is dealing with international media. We taught our members this craft and trained regularly. The effort has paid off, as our international delegations have already appeared several times on television and in newspaper articles.

Our young diplomats have already achieved a lot. One of them was sending an official letter to the President of the Federal Council and having the unique opportunity to meet ministers and high politicians.
